Fans of the crinkled nylon Kipling bags can now rejoice as they unveil a whole plethora of designs for the Summer Pre-Fall 2016 collection. There are just so many fresh new designs, I can promise that you would never look at Kipling the same way again!
Held at Lepaq Lepaq along Ceylon Road, the space has been thoroughly decked in Kipling bags and monkeys. If you haven’t noticed, their logo has a monkey in it, and how very apt for the Monkey year of 2016.
Why monkeys though? The three Belgian designers who founded the brand were inspired by the monkeys depicted in Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, hence the name and logo. And there were so many variations of monkey zips and key rings that can easily suit all ages.
There is a bag for every occasion – the designers at Kipling has seen to it. Everything from work bags to casual bags, travel luggages and carry-ons, travel pouches, backpacks and even teeny tiny school bags – they’ve got it all! I am in love with the tropical printed bags as well as the very vibrant red luggage bags. There was even a very tiny backpack in coral that would look pretty good on a grown woman too!
Not forgetting the men, there are a lot of sleek backpacks for them in darker shades and shoulder bags with compartments for everything you can possibly need.
This is definitely one of my top favourites! Love the green jungle vibe.
We sat in the cosy upstairs lounge while waiting for the fashion show to start. I was checking out the models and admiring the way Kipling’s bag are able to match against their colourful clothing while still carrying off that urban-hipster vibe.
I also admired Lepaq Lepaq’s gorgeous interior decor – especially this wall with the gorgeous tiles used as a centerpiece. And ladders with lightbulbs? Awkward for when you actually do need a ladder, but beautiful nonteheless.
And then, the fashion show began.
All of the guests were invited to get onto Kipling’s Summer Bus for a tour around Kuala Lumpur’s best sights. Unfortunately for me, I had another meeting so I had to skip it.
However, the bus will be all around KL throughout June, so if you spot it anywhere – join the Kipling Monkeys’ Contest! You need to count the number of monkeys depicted on the bus’ exterior and submit your answer with a creative caption on Kipling’s Facebook page. You get to win their awesome bags!
Last but not least, I need to show you the amazing travel pouch Kipling sent us all home with. Definitely saving this for my next travel destination (next month!). It is one pouch with 3 separate compartments that can easily hold cash, passports and even lip balms or mints.
Love it! Probably the most practical travel pouch I have at the moment which looks really good too!
